Business Policies

At The Walkies Club, we provide kind, reliable, and loving care for your pets with complete transparency. Our policies ensure that every adventure is safe, professional, and tailored to your dog's individual needs, building a foundation of trust between us and the families we serve.

Service Terms and Conditions

1. Services

The Walkies Club agrees to provide dog walking services and/or home visits as requested by the Client. Walks may be conducted individually or in groups, depending on the service booked and the dog’s suitability.

2. Health, Illness & Behaviour

  • The Client confirms that their dog is fit, healthy, and up to date with vaccinations, flea, and worming treatments.

  • Any medical conditions, behavioural issues, or special requirements must be disclosed prior to services commencing.

  • The Walkies Club reserves the right to refuse or cease a walk if a dog displays aggressive, unsafe, or uncontrollable behaviour.

  • Ongoing behavioural issues may result in services being permanently withdrawn.

3. Dog Illness & Parasite Policy

  • Dogs showing signs of illness (including but not limited to vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy or coughing) must not attend walks.

  • Dogs with contagious conditions such as kennel cough, fleas, worms, or other parasites will not be walked until fully treated and symptom-free.

  • If a dog is found to have fleas or a contagious illness during or after a walk, services may be suspended immediately to protect other dogs.

  • The Client remains responsible for any costs incurred as a result of parasite treatment, additional cleaning, or disruption caused.

4. Equipment

The Client agrees to provide suitable walking equipment (collar/harness and lead). The Walkies Club may use safety equipment where necessary for the dog’s welfare. Equipment deemed unsafe or inappropriate may result in the walk being refused.

5. Safety & Off-Lead Policy

Dogs will be walked on-lead unless prior consent for off-lead walking has been provided by the Client. Off-lead walking is undertaken entirely at the Client’s risk.

Off-Lead Criteria

Off-lead walking will only be considered where:

  • The dog has demonstrated reliable recall and appropriate social behaviour.

  • The dog has completed a minimum assessment period with the Company.

  • The walking environment is deemed safe and suitable by the Company at the time of the walk.

The Company reserves the right to revoke off-lead privileges at any time if safety concerns arise.

Liability

The Company will take all reasonable care, but cannot be held liable for illness, injury, loss, or death unless caused by proven negligence.

6. Extreme Weather Policy

Walks may be shortened, modified, or cancelled during extreme weather conditions, including excessive heat, ice, snow, storms, or unsafe air quality. The Company will always prioritise the safety and welfare of the dog. No refunds will be issued where services are altered or cancelled due to extreme weather conditions beyond the Company’s control.

7. Incident Reporting Process

An incident includes, but is not limited to, injury, escape, dog altercation, property damage, or third-party involvement.

  • Any incident occurring during a walk will be documented by the Company.

  • The Client will be informed as soon as reasonably practicable.

  • Where appropriate, veterinary care or emergency services will be sought.

  • Incident reports will be retained for internal records and may be shared with the Client upon request.

8.  Veterinary Care Policy

  • The Company will make reasonable efforts to contact the Client before seeking treatment.

  • If unreachable, the Company is authorised to transport the dog to the Client’s registered veterinary practice or the nearest available vet.

  • The Client accepts full financial responsibility for all veterinary fees, transport costs, and associated expenses.

  • The Walkies Club shall not be held responsible for the outcome of veterinary treatment.

9. Key Holding Policy

Where keys are provided to The Walkies Club for access, the following applies:

Security

  • All keys are securely stored and labelled.

  • Keys are never stored with identifying address information.

Use of Keys

  • Keys will be used solely for the purpose of accessing the Client’s property to provide agreed services.

  • Keys will not be duplicated or loaned to third parties.

 Loss or Damage

In the unlikely event of key loss, The Walkies Club will notify the Client immediately. Liability for replacement locks or keys is limited unless the loss is due to proven negligence.

Return of Keys

Keys will be returned upon termination of services or at the Client’s request.
